El Paso Airport / Flights

El Paso International Airport

The El Paso International Airport, the gateway to West Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Northern Mexico is the principal airport serving the El Paso region. There are nonstop flights to 18 destinations providing over 9,000 seats per day into and out of El Paso. Commercial service is provided by American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, Frontier, Continental, Aerolitoral, America West, US Airways, ExpressJet and United. There are an average of 134 nonstop, direct flights arriving and departing daily from the El Paso International Airport.

In late year 1998, the El Paso International Airport Renovation and Expansion Project was completed. The newly remodeled airport is located just east of Downtown El Paso. The airport is favored with abundant land (nearly 7,000 acres of high desert country), beautiful flying weather and over 2,500 acres available for future development.

In 2006, El Paso International Airport served a total of 3.4 million passengers. Of these 3.4 million passengers 3.3 million are classified as El Paso origin and destination travelers that are either beginning or ending their travel in El Paso. The remaining 1,000,000 passengers are connecting travelers on air carriers using El Paso International Airport as a connecting point between two other destinations.

As of 2006, El Paso International Airport has two carrier runways and one general aviation runway. The airport also includes a 288,000 sq. ft. cargo complex which is the border's most modern air cargo complex. The complex has an occupancy rate approaching 70% and is the only modern air cargo complex on hte border with immediate expansion capabilities, allowing a clear advantage in border trade and associated economic development issues. These new facilities are centered in a future indutrial park tailored to the "just in time" nature of US/Mexico trade.
